The Graduate

Tonight we went to a high school graduation party for a wonderful girl.  She is a beautiful person in every way and we wish her the best!

Hydrangeas in motion

Late this afternoon I experimented with a technique I've tried a few times, but just haven't gotten the hang of.  The idea is to create a "burst" effect where the center of the photo is in focus and the image radiates out from the focal point.  This is accomplished by quickly zooming out while the shutter is open.  The first thing I didn't do right was that I had too much light to use a slow enough shutter speed to evenly turn the zoom ring.  The second thing was that I was too lazy to get my tripod out, so I didn't get a clear shot of the center image.  The first photo is my not so great attempt at this technique.  Next time I'll set up my tripod and shoot in lower light.

The second image was just a "mistake" photo where I didn't get the zoom turned much at all and I didn't get a burst effect, just a blurred image.  I kinda liked it though....I thought it looked like an oil painting.

Tracie

Our friend Tracie, not wanting to have her photo taken.  She's trying to be pouty, but I think she's gorgeous.

Forks

Not sure much explanation is needed for this image.  I was cleaning out the dishwasher, saw these forks on the counter and decided to get my camera and catch them in the light.

Teeing off on #10

We had a great time playing golf today.  It was a beautiful day and George had a very good round.   Here he is teeing off on #10....a very short par 3.

Oh no! Not two cat photos in a row!

I really wasn't planning to take this photo today.  We were stuck inside in the rain and I decided to take a photo of an old guitar of mine.  I got out the wide angle lens to experiment with and started shooting.  The problem is that it's almost impossible to get a photo of anything when Hobbes is around.  He is such a ham and keeps coming up and putting his nose on the lens.  So, finally, I just gave in....sorry, I'll try to do better tomorrow!
