Night lights
It's getting late, I have a cold, and I was getting ready to take some Niquil and crawl in bed to read. Of course then I remembered that I hadn't posted. So since it's night I have to figure out what to do with the available low light in the house (without too much thought). So, I chose a few lights, shot them from a few angles and called it a night. Hopefully tomorrow will bring a clearer head and a little more creativity.

Ornate light
I drove up to the mountains this afternoon and for the entire drive the sky was beautiful and dramatic. The closer I got to the mountains, the wind started picking up and the clouds were moving very quickly. Based on these wonderful conditions I decided to go to one of my favorite overlooks on the Blue Ridge Parkway, set up the tripod and get some long-exposure pinhole shots of the clouds. I could just visualize the shots I wanted and was looking forward to some creative work. Unfortunately, but the time I got here the wind had blown in totally gray, foggy conditions and my idea was a moot point. So, once again, I started roaming the house looking for anything I hadn't already shot for the blog. I took several photos....nothing I was really excited about....and this was the best of the lot. This is an old light fixture in our back hallway. I do like the shadowing in the image, but overall a pretty ho-hum way to end my 9th month of daily posting.
Maybe tomorrow the weather gods will favor me and I can get outside for some better work.

I decided to experiment today by photographing the same subject (in this case, a hanging fixture in our guest bedroom) with many different combinations of several different iphone apps. The ones I used are RetroCamera, Hipstamatic, Camera Bag, ShakeItPhoto, ToyCamera, Polarize and Lo-Mob. I didn't try all the options, but I took 72 images. Here is a good representation of the types of effects produced from these cheap little apps....this if so much fun I may not go back to my dslr for a while! At the end of the week, I'll send a few of these (plus some others) to Sarah for her blog. (There are a lot of images here, so I understand if you get bored and aren't as excited about this as I am!)
