Lazy day in the mountains
Suzy and George relaxing on the sofa in the late afternoon light. A nice lazy day. We've missed our snowy mountains!

Yet another park bench
I seem to be stuck on park benches. This shot is part of a larger project I'm doing for my photography class this week. Once again at Freedom Park.....
There are a few things I'd like to photoshop out, but I'm out of time right now, so the warts stay in!

Textures Mosaic
I took another couple of photos of textures again today. I may be developing a textures addiction. Now, everything I see that has an interesting texture I have to run find my camera to photograph. Textures on their own, however, are not very compelling as a photograph, so today I did something different and used a website to make a image mosaic of 36 of my textures.

Sexy shoes
I bought these shoes a few years ago to go with a cocktail dress. They are so different from most of the plain (mostly black) shoes I own that I sometimes think they've sneaked into the closet to have a affair with George's shoes. Even though I don't wear them often, I just love the idea of having such a flirty pair of pumps. I took this shot with a very shallow depth of field to make the background blur out and I got down with the camera on the floor to get this perspective.

"D" is for Droplets
It's snowing and as the flakes hit the warm surfaces they turn into water. I noticed this maple tree in our backyard covered with droplets against the background of snow falling. So...."D" is for droplets. I like the shallow depth of field in this image which made the background appear to be in droplets too.

A Shot of Color
After many days of dreary black and white and sepia shots (probably reflective of my winter mood) I decided I needed a jolt of color into my life. This is a shot of some glassware that we bought from an glass artisan at Penland last summer. I love the colors and how the colors change when I look through two or more glasses together. I've been playing with more textures today for my class this week, but I decided to post this as the original image.

Uptown Cemetery
I decided to go uptown today to take some photos of the old Settlers' Cemetery. While I didn't get the quality of the images I had hoped (the background of non-descript buildings hurt the composition), I did get a few decent ones. I liked this one after I converted it to B&W, then I layered it in Photoshop with one of the texture images I did last week (old paper) and really liked the result. Here is the original B&W and the final shot with the paper layer.
With this post, I'm celebrating my second month complete without a missed post! Two months down, 10 to go!
