Old Stuff

Today we went to an antique store that has great old things for the garden (and home). We were on a mission to find an old sink to use in a potting shed. We found a sink we think would work, and I took out my iphone to take a photo to send to our builder. While we were there, I found that it was a great place to take photos. This is another one of those places I think I'llgo back to with my regular camera to get some higher resolution images. In the meantime, here are the ones from today.

Ivy wall

This is a wall in our garden. I like the way the light brings out the textures in this photo.

Barstool

I've always liked the shape of the barstools in our kitchen. They look sculptural to me and when I saw the bright afternoon light highlighting this one, I thought it might make a good image.

Halloween house

Have you noticed that fewer people seem to be decorating for Christmas, but more people are decorating for Halloween?  Hmmmmm.......   Anyway, I've been noticing some of the more complicated decorations around town and thought it would be fun to take some photos of them between now and the end of the month.  This is a house in Dilworth and it had such a convincing graveyard that I almost expected to see a ghost float by....

Apples from heaven

I decided to put together this composite in honor of apple season in the NC mountains.

Fall color

Although I'm not pleased with the composition of this photo, I do like the morning sun backlighting the beautiful fall color of the trees.  I hope to have much better autumn images during the next few weeks.

Punkin' and pumpkins

This is probably an image that just George and I will appreciate, but we have always called Suzy "Punkin'" since she is orange and very round.  This morning when I saw her sitting with the pumpkins on our front porch, it was a photo op I couldn't resist.
