Peace girl

Today we went to the Liberty Parade in Todd, NC with John and Claudia.  It was a beautiful sunny day and I took tons of photos of the crowd.  While it was a very colorful event, one of my favorites was a black and white of this little girl watching the band.  Maybe I'll post a few of the color ones tomorrow.

I always think I can hold my camera steady in the dark.  I can't, but I always try.  Here's the latest attempt with John and Claudia after dinner on the porch.

More pinhole

It was late today and I wasn't feeling very creative, so I decided to shoot some pinhole.  I just stood in the front yard, and there wasn't much to shoot.  It was sunset and I wanted to capture the pink clouds, but I couldn't get the light right to get the color.  At 25 seconds I did get a little cloud movement which I liked, but overall, fairly ho-hum results.  Here are the best two shots of the batch.

Queen Anne's Lace

The Queen Anne's Lace is blooming profusely on the mountain and always provides a good subject for a quick shot.

Comfort shoes

The assignment from Digital Photography School this week is to shoot from down low.  For this shot, a companion piece to yesterday's blue jeans, I put the camera on the floor to take the shot.  Since I couldn't look through the viewfinder, it took me a few tries to get a decent composition.

Cocktail time

Got back from the mountains today just in time to head to brunch and a play and then to some good friends' house to see their new kitchen.  Great kitchen and some beautiful and delicious drinks to celebrate the occasion.
