Night lights
It's getting late, I have a cold, and I was getting ready to take some Niquil and crawl in bed to read. Of course then I remembered that I hadn't posted. So since it's night I have to figure out what to do with the available low light in the house (without too much thought). So, I chose a few lights, shot them from a few angles and called it a night. Hopefully tomorrow will bring a clearer head and a little more creativity.

Anguilla revisited
Today I was very busy and had little time and less energy for taking a photo. I took one of Suzy's paw, but I also spent some time working on processing some of the many images I had taken in Anguilla and never had the time to work on.....so, since once again I had a cat subject, I'm posting a few others for variety. I liked the one of George against the beautiful blue sky. We rented chairs on the beach from "Ray da man". and I wanted to get a good shot of the pier, but I didn't get it lined up right and we were racing to another spot to get to see our last sunset, so I didn't have time to get it right....maybe next time.

Spoons spooning
It's very cold today so I went wandering around the house looking for something indoors to shoot. I remembered a photograph I saw somewhere recently of spoons, and since I did a fork photo earlier in the year, I decided to do some spoons. I grouped them so they "spooned" and focused on the reflection of the lights. I darkened the exposure to give it a more abstract look.

Proper porch
This afternoon we had brunch with Pam and Edward at Proper over in Boone. When we were leaving I noticed how much I liked the way the porch looked with the Christmas tree in the corner and the snow outside the windows. Since it was so heavily contrasted (especially with the sunlight reflecting off the snow), I did this in HDR. I don't usually go for the "painterly" HDR styles, but thought I'd use it in this case for something a little different.

Tree in snow
We've had some beautiful snow today that unfortunately is turning into sleet and freezing rain. Before we lost all the beauty, however, I found this tree starkly set against a field of snow. After taking the original shot (that turned out to be black and white since there were no other colors present), I took a little artistic liberty and tried a few other effects with this simple subject.

Back to the hills
We traveled back to Blowing Rock today after having not been here in about a month. The first shot is the state of our construction at this point. A lot has changed since the photo of George standing on the tree stump! Building foundations in the mountains is a lot more complex than in Charlotte. I was glad to see the guys still hard at work. The second photo is one I'll add to a file I'm building on nice skies. Also, the sun setting over the mountains (and it's 35 degrees) is in stark contrast to the photo I posted one week ago with the sun setting over the Caribbean (it was about 85 degrees). The difference a week makes! Tomorrow I might even get some snow shots.

Basket o' kitty fun
We have a toy basket for our cats (yes I know how pathetic that sounds!) and they pull toys out and we occasionally round them up and put them back in. Hobbes, in particular, would rather pull out a new one than play with one he already has out. They are colorful little treasures for him.
