Ellen and David

Tonight we had a fun dinner with two great friends, Ellen and David.  It was really too dark to get this shot clearly without a flash, but their smiles were so great that I decided I just had to post it.

"Subject"

It's getting late and I needed a no thought, low energy photo.  George wasn't thrilled about it, but, once more, he played "subject" so I wouldn't have to miss a post.  I love my hubby....

Lazy shots

One of those days where it's dinner time and there are no photos in the camera.  I was lazy tonight and took a couple of shots from my chair at dinner at the patio at Brio.  Nice night and beautiful sky.  (Now that I look at it, I really need to straighten the first shot!)

A sign of the season

I did a lot of photography yesterday, so today I cut myself a little slack and got this easy shot of the pumpkins outside the Fresh Market.

Old building before a rain

I was in Southend today looking for old sinks and was parked beside this building that some guys were starting to renovate.  I'm always attracted to old run-down buildings - the textures, the memories of what was and the promise of what still might be.  Although it was mid-afternoon, the gathering storm clouds made the light interesting.  I'm really beginning to like low saturation images.

Autumn sky

The sky was beautiful tonight so I decided to get a shot to use as a "sky background" when I'm doing Photoshop (I replace a lackluster sky with one with more interest).  Unfortunately all I had was my iphone and the resolution wasn't very good and the noise was high.  I decided to work with it however, because I wanted to try out a new function in Photoshop CS5 called Content Aware Fill.  In the original photo there were three thick power lines running through the photo.  With Content Aware, you simply draw a rectangle around the area you want to fix and like magic the power lines disappear.  It used to take a long time to do that with the clone tool, so this is a much faster process.  Not a wonderful image and I doubt the quality is good enough to really use as a background, but it was nice to learn a new step in PS.

Pinhole brunch

Another beautiful day up the mountain and a wonderful chance to have brunch al fresco.  I wanted to show a friend about pinhole photography, so here are a few of the shots from this morning.  By the way...if you are in the Boone area, check out Proper restaurant for great food, good service and a funky atmosphere.
